Brief History of the Company

• By the end of 1987, the company (in that time the company was in the name of Xiangfan Power Equipment Plant) has taken the lead in researching and developing composite insulators in China.
• From1989 to1990, Tonly^© composite insulators were used in Beijing, Lanzhou, Dalian, Fushun where the pollution flashover had always occurred in large areas in 1990, but there was no pollution flashover occurred on any composite insulator.
• In 1991, Tonly^© 500kV composite insulators served in Gezhou Dam-Shuanghe transmission line, which filled the gap in the field of domestic EHV composite insulators.
• In 1992, Xiangfan Power Equipment Plant was reformed to establish a company group, and its previous work shop for composite insulators became a independent factory.
• In1993, Tonly^© 500kV composite insulators were assessed at a state-level new product by the National Science Council and other five ministries. At the same year, the company was firstly carried out pilot trials with share holding reform in Hubei power system, and established the Xiangfan Power Equipment Co., Ltd.
• In 1994, Xiangfan Power Equipment Co., Ltd was awarded to be the model High- Tech Enterprise in Hubei Province
• In 1995, Tonly^© ±500kV DC composite insulators were firstly served in domestic transmission lines, which once again filled the gap in this industry.
• In 1995, Xiangfan Power Equipment Co., Ltd invested 2 million RMB to establish a testing center which was in the lead level in the same industry of China, and became a factory which could carry out all of the test items for series of composite insulators.
• In 1996, the company started to give publicity to carry out the ISO9000 system in the entire scope of the company, and established a perfect quality assurance system, and passed the quality system certification.
• In 1996, Xiangfan Power Equipment Co., Ltd upgraded to Xiangfan Tonly Power equipment Group Co., Ltd. which governed several branch factories for manufacturing high-tech products like composite insulators, computer artesian, switch cabinets and etc.
• In 1997, after surveying and comparing the five composite insulator manufacturers in China, the former China Power Grid Construction Co. decided to establish Xiangfan Guowang Composite Insulators Co., Ltd. on the basis of Xiangfan Composite Insulators Plant of the Xiangfan Tonly Power Equipment Group Co., Ltd. through share holding reform with six share holders: (1) Xiangfan Tonly Power Equipment Group Co., Ltd., (2)China Power Grid Construction Co., (3)Central-China Electric Power Industry Development Co., (4)Longyuan Co. of China Northeast Electric Power Group Co., (5)Hubei Electric Industry General Co., and (6)Transmission & Substation New Technological Co. of South-China Electric Power Design Institute. And Mr. Shi Dazhen, the former minister of China Power Industry Ministry gave his autograph to the company name.
• In 1997, Tonly^© composite insulators passed the assessment for the composite insulators entering into China power grid that celebrated by the former China Power Industry Ministry with the top one in the same industry.
• In 1997, Tonly^© composite insulators were assessed at Hubei famous brand and the company was designated as Hubei high-tech enterprise.
• In 1998, the first phase of investment was completed, the company was provided with two kinds of production technics (sheds assembling and injection moulding ) and set up an annually production capacity of 120,000pcs of standard composite insulators.
• In 1999, Tonly^© ±500kV composite insulators passed the 5000 hours aging test carried out in KEMA lab, the Netherland
• In 2001, the company exported 72,300pcs composite insulators to Italy which inaugurated a new era in exporting. Since then, the products had being exported to more than 20 countries such as Britain, the Netherlands, Chile, Iran and so on.
• In 2001, Tonly^© 132kV composite insulators passed type tests in CESI lab, Italy.
• In 2002, the second phase of investment was completed, the company was provided with a totally enclosed production line, and set up an annually production capacity of 200,000 pc.s of standard composite insulators.
• In 2003, the composite insulator for railway usage was operated in Hengyang, Hunan, Guangdong, GuangZhou.
• In 2003, the company successfully developed the 750kV composite insulator. The product leaded the technology in the domestic and international same industry.
• In 2006, the company started to build a new factory, and at the same time, they strengthened the management of the old factory and upgraded corporate culture which prepare the new software and new management for the new factory.
• In 2006, Tonly^© 1000kV AC and ±800kv DC composite insulators passed the technical appraisal, and all of the experts had a same opinion that the Tonly^© Ultra high voltage AC & DC composite insulators had reached the international leading level.
• In 2007, the new factory went into operation, and the company became the largest manufacturer in Asia for composite insulators with a annually production capacity of 1,000,000 pc.s
• In 2007, The Composite Insulators R & D Center of the company was authorized as a Hubei provincial-level technique center by the government, and its 1000kV ultra high voltage composite insulator was assessed as the state-level major new product.
• In 2008, the railway use composite insulators passed the technology appraisal, the product was assessed as to reach a domestic advanced-level.
• In 2008, the company passed the qualification of ISO14001 Environment Management System and OHSA18001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System.
